These artworks were inspired by the work of Joseph Cornell (1903 – 1972) who was an American artist and sculptor; he is one of the pioneers of the art of assemblage. He was largely self-taught in his artistic efforts, and improvised his own original style incorporating cast-off and discarded artifacts. He believed aesthetic theories were foreign to the origin of his art but said his works were based on everyday experiences, “the beauty of the commonplace.”
