The photo to the left shows my copper plate etching and print after it was printed on a American French Tool etching press. I also paint on canvas with acrylics and oil paints; and work on paper with watercolor, pastels, and charcoal. I enjoy mixing various mediums to create visually interesting works of art. My inspiration comes from the works of artists such as Romare Bearden, Louise Bourgeois, Marc Chagall, Joseph Cornell, and Claude Monet. I encourage you to click on the names of each artists so that they may inspire you as well! Thank you for visiting my website.
Originally from Brazoria County, Texas, I moved from Houston to Austin in 1992. After attending 5 different colleges over a 23-year period I managed to complete a degree in Studio Art in 2004, and completed a second bachelor’s degree in Fine Art in 2006, both from the University of Texas at Austin.
The natural world is my muse. The choice of of media — printmaking, pastel, charcoal, watercolor, acrylics and oil — are defined by the subject matter. My experiences as a wife, mother, grandmother, and citizen of the world, influence my work. The concerns of our environment, man’s impact on his surroundings, and the future of the planet influence my subject choices. There is beauty in small moments; my goal is to capture the essence of those moments.
